The First Employment Bill Passed in the Maldives!

The People’s Majlis (parliament) on passed the First Employment Bill on 23rd April, 2008, setting out a comprehensive package of rights for employees in the Maldives for the first time. Once the bill comes into force, working hours will be limited to 48 per week and workers legally entitled to a minimum wage, as well as annual leave, maternity leave and 15-minute prayer breaks. Once the President has ratified the bill and it becomes law, every worker in Maldives – whatever their citizenship – must receive a minimum wage, at a rate to be set by the minister of employment.

Delivery of first Enterprise Model of Training " Automotive Maintenence, 1"


Center for Career and Technical Education in collobration with MHESS delivered the first training program on the newly established enterprise model on the newly introduced TVET system. The program ran from 3rd December, 2007 to 17th Febraury, 2008. The program was delivered to the Workshop Staff of Maldives Police Service. The referred program was delivered to the recetly compiled National Occupational Standards developmed by the Transport Sector Council.



CCTE Team is proud to be the first Institution which delivered such a program under the new TVET system.
